Bonterra Vineyards 2006 Mendocino County Zinfandel

Compared to the wines from Italian cuttings produced in the same region, this red is less rustic and more elegant. It has that unmistakable sense of place, the authenticity of the wine’s touch to its Mendocino roots. The grapes grows from mostly dry-farmed, low-yield vineyards that are tended using only traditional processes.

The wine provides a very appetizing bouquet of mixed berries. Blackberry, black raspberry, blueberry, and probably raspberry liqueur. These fruits also emanate on the taste, filling the palate with juicy yet reasonably restrained sensation.

As with many wines from the Bonterra Vineyards, this bottle goes well with food like red meat, poultry, even tomato-based dishes. Costs US$14.99.
