The best made Merlot ever are in this list. Here are the top ten.

1. Leonetti Merlot Washington, 1992. Leonetti is the top of the pops with its use of Mediterranean fruit, currant, oak, and cherry. It is priced at an economic $25.00. Wine Spectator Rating: 96/100.

2. Paloma Merlot Spring Mountain District, 2001. One of the most expensive in the list at $210.66, it is distinct and rich with its flavors of black cherry and currant. Wine Spectator Rating: 95/100.

3. Ahnfeldt Merlot Napa Valley, 2002. This is the debut Merlot of Ahnfledt. It is dark in color with thick, rich currant, black cherry, and blackberry with a tinge of chocolate. It is smooth on the palate. Currently retails at $109.00. Wine Spectator Rating: 94/100. Wine Advocate Rating: 86/100.

4. Belvedere Merlot Alexander Valley Robert Young Vineyards, 1982. This is one of the cheapest wines in the list at $12.00. This does not compromise the quality of the wine though. Wine Spectator Rating: 94/100.

5. Chateau St. Jean Merlot Sonoma County Reserve, 1994. This is a highly extracted wine that manages to remain elegant. It comprises of black cherry with toast. It won a gold medal and best of price class award at the New World International. Wine Advocate Rating: 90-92.

6. Clarendon Hills Merlot Clarendon Brookman, 2005. Clarendon Hills is the newest in this list, coming out with a 2005 Merlot.

7. Dehlinger Merlot Sonoma County, 1984. Dehlinger uses bramble, spices, and raspberry to produce a rich and fleshy concoction that has balance. Reasonably priced at $12.00. Wine Spectator Rating: 94/100.

8. Duckhorn Merlot Napa Valley, 1983. The Duckhorn Merlot came from grapes from the Three Palms Vineyard. It sold initially at $21. It could be more pricey now for its rarity.

9. Keenan Merlot Napa Valley, 1984. This $30.00 wine is one of the four wines that come from the Napa Valley. Vino2Vino Rating: 92. Wine Spectator Rating: 94/100.

10. Lewis Merlot Napa Valley, 2003. We now come into the bottom of the barrel, but it does not mean that Lewis is the worst in the lot. Remember, this is the list of the best.
